“Oh my god, there’s a gay couple over there!” “Oh my god, show me! I love gay people!”

This annoys me. If you are so supportive of gay rights, can’t you accept the fact they are just human? Like you? No difference. And when someone says they love gay people, they are thinking of the stereotypical gay guys, like Kurt from Glee. I am completely supportive of gay rights, gay marriage, everything, I don’t want to sound homophobic. But the fact that some people treat them like they are that much different than everyone else bugs me. They are just human. They shouldn’t be treated like they are less than anybody else, but they also shouldn’t be treated like a show, parading around for the pleasure of others. Why don’t people understand that?

  1. Mom: Why aren't you doing homework?
  2. Me: I want to show my teachers that they don't own me, I'm more than just a piece in their stupid school.
  3. Mom:
  4. Me: When I graduate, I want to still be me.

I think that actually most people, or most teenagers at least, pity themselves. I know sometimes I do. Looking at blogs or tweets, a lot of them are “my life sucks” or “fml”. Whenever I feel this way I try to remind myself how lucky I am and how grateful I should be, because I know I have a wonderful life. But I still never feel good enough. But even the “popular” kids have those tweets talking about how they’re life sucks because they aren’t pretty or don’t have a boyfriend or whatever. No matter how cliche or even shallow the things they say are, I know that most of the time they genuinely feel like they aren’t good enough. Nobody is ever good enough in their own eyes. Maybe we all feel this way for different reasons, but the point is, we all feel this way.

Sometimes I think you understand. Then I again realize, you don’t.
